Prof. Sander studied Economics at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel. He then completed his doctorate on the subject of brand valuation at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen. He also habilitated at the same university on the subject of pricing in international markets. He was then appointed to the Chair of General Business Administration with a focus on marketing at the University of Constance.
Prof. Sander is the author of several standard works on national and international marketing management. He is also involved in the international training and further education of managers in the field of marketing. His activities focus on the European and Asian regions. He was director of the Management Program Constance Shanghai (MPCS) for many years, in which Chinese managers received further training, and from 2002 to 2007 the rector's representative and coordinator of the International Master of Business Administration (IMBA) program with the Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Prof. Sander has also received various prizes and awards for his research work, including the prestigious Science Prize of the German Brands Association (1st prize).
Prof. Sander was active in the academic self-administration of the University of Konstanz as Dean and Departmental Spokesperson of the Department of Economics. Since 2007, he has also held the position of Chairman of the Standing Examination Board (BA) of the Department of Economics.
His main areas of work and research are international marketing, brand management and branding.
